Art and Supervision Tutor

Emma Steadman

Emma Steadman is an experienced play therapist (MA, BACP), supervisor and trainer who has worked in CAMHS, charities and schools over the last fifteen years. Emma has trained and supervised play therapists in this country and internationally, as well as supervising counsellors, sandplay therapists, social workers, teachers, Nurture Group staff, head teachers, and family support workers. Previously, Emma was a Primary School Teacher and Placement Tutor supporting student teachers on teaching practice. Emma Steadman is pioneering a unique full supervision training called “Pretending to be a Unicorn: Playfull Supervision”. This training in a small group integrates play and creativity with learning and supervision models and has been informed by Emma’s current PhD research alongside her practice experience. The course works to the BACP Competences (2018). Emma’s training is focussed on a playful creative space that opens hearts and minds in order to tune into clients, see different perspectives, learn, and develop confidence. She uses sandplay, writing, art, music, puppets, and role-play to enable a safe, curious, and open learning space where practice can be developed and supervisees can feel empowered and re-energised in their work for the benefit of their clients.

Founder and Pioneer

Jill Carter

Jill Carter is a a pioneer of Integrative and Trauma-Informed Sandplay® and Art in the UK. Her courses are the only ones in the country to integrate traditional talking therapies (object relations, Jungian, Gestalt, person-centred and Transpersonal) with creative media such as sandplay, art, meditation, music and movement. The focus is on integrating theory and practice through play, spirituality and self exploration. Her ‘Working Creatively with Trauma’ course is unique in examining and illustrating the most commonly used trauma models through the lens of creative media such as sandplay with an open, compassionate and questioning heart. This makes even the most complex theories accessible to counsellors and psychotherapists working with children, adolescents and adults. Jill is a Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapist and Supervisor (MA, UKCP and BACP) with 15 years experience of working creatively. She is also an EMDR Therapist. Jill is a Registered Training Supervisor at a leading London transpersonal counselling training college and travels all over the world teaching and supervising individuals and groups in sandplay and art. Before then, she spent more than 20 years as a presenter on national radio and TV. Jill’s courses have already supported hundreds of counsellors, psychotherapists and students to become more expressive in their work and in life.
